| Description |
Khurram Murad explains why the discipline of sacrifice is essential to the making of a Muslim. One must always strive to bring his or her own self and the whole of humankind to live in surrender to the One God. The saying of Shahadah must lead to the doing of Shahadah, which requires ceaseless struggle and, therefore, sacrifice, he argues. Then he deals with various objects of sacrifice: both tangible like time, money and life; and intangible like familial love, friendship, likes, dislikes, and ego.

| Something to Ask... | O Allah! I ask You for Your Love, the love of those who love You, and deeds which will cause me to attain Your Love. O Allah! Make Your Love dearer to me than myself, my family and the cold water. |
