Five Eid ideas for fall season

Five Eid ideas for fall season

"And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it. And no grain is there within the darknesses of the earth and no moist or dry [thing] but that it is [written] in a clear record” (Quran 6:59).

Fall is another reminder of Allah’s immense Knowledge, Power, and Wisdom. It’s also a season in which we can weave our remembrance of Allah with a unique Eid celebration this year. Here are some unique fall-themed Eid ideas for fall season

1. Fall color Eid day hike/drive

If you’re a nature buff, fall colors are the ticket to an Eid day of spectacular splendor. Plan your Eid day route to prayers and back searching on Google under “best fall foliage” or “best fall scenic routes” and the name of your city or the area where the Eid prayers will be held. If you and your family are up to it, consider a short, easy hike or walk afterwards in a park, nature center, or forest preserve.

Don’t forget to take an Eid day picture, featuring your impressive attire and brilliant, natural background.

2. Pumpkin-laced Eid menu

If pumpkin is one flavor you look forward to in the fall, adjust your Eid menu accordingly. Serve an Eid day pumpkin-flavored sweet to family and friends; try out that pumpkin spice latte on your way to Eid prayer instead of the usual one, or bake pumpkin muffins or cupcakes to give out to neighbors with an “Eid Mubarak!” card.

3. Catch a hayride

This is a staple activity of the season, but what will make it fun is sitting on one in your fancy Eid clothes (provided they don’t get torn or damaged).

4. Eid day football fun

What is fall in the U.S. without football? Engage enthusiasts, both young and old, in an Eid day football tournament in the backyard or a nearby park. Winner receive special Fall Eid prizes and sweets.

5. Eid day apple picking and dessert party

Plan to offer Eid prayers at a place near an apple picking farm. Then head over after Salah to pick apples for a dessert party at home. Taffy apples are a quick dessert that can be made, if there’s no time for the traditional apple pie.
