This is a great article. JazkahAllah khair for getting to the point and writing in a manner that all can understand.
I see that some brothers and sisters commented that not all practice Islam this way. Of course we all know this, but that does not prevent us from sharing this knowledge with others and especially new muslims and the next generation. We must lead by example if we expect any positive changes to be made. If we continue to say "oh this is good...but it won't work", what message are we sending to those who look up to us?
We are commaned to enjoin the good and forbid the evil, so lets all make an effort to not only be muslims, but LIVE ISLAM.

Very apt and in line with Islamic teaching.
However in my opinion not a very realistic way to chose a partner whom a person intends to spend the rest of their life with.
You cannot know everything there is to know about a future spouse merely from talking and not spending a reasonable length of time in each others company. Each day has 24 hours - 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness. The same applies to human beings. We all have 12 hour of light in us and 12 hours of darkness. An individual's spiritual level in life determines which one takes precedence. The light or the darkness. Human beings LIE. No one in their right mind will reveal the negative side of their character or personality at such a meeting. People will come to the meeting describe themselves in glowing colors , 1 wedding later and one party finds themselves in an untenable situation.
This is why even though all muslims are aware of these teachings not all follow them when choosing a spouse.
