[This presentation was given at McDonald's Corporate Headquarters by Abdul
Malik Mujahid on behalf of Muslims on August 5, 2002. We never received a formal
response to our suggestions. However, McDonald's opposed our attorney's request
to treat Muslims and Halal as a distinct dietary group for the purpose of cy
pres fund distribution as they are treating other groups, instead of giving
out a lesser amount from funds allocated for Vegetarian groups. The Judge agreed
with McDonald's position. Now a few vegetarians have filed an appeal against
this decision to give cy pres funds to Muslims from the vegetarian allocation.
A few Muslims have also filed appeal on the same basis.]

Comment: Assalamu Alaikum, I think the presure should be kept up on all retailers that do not recognise the need to provide Halal Food, if Muslims stood up in great numbers and started boycotting places like McDonalds it would certainly hit them where it hurts (financially) and we could see some results. Its the same with everything We Muslims accept everything thrown at us

Comment: I dont think the sister waheedah understands what is going on. This is not about doing it ourselves. It is about making it known to the non-muslims that we exist in large numbers. In addition, they consider every other group why not the muslims..... I agree we need to do things ourselves that does change the fact that McDonald duped muslims for all this time.

Comment: Greetings, I don't understand why we are making these fast food places cater to Halal or Kosher eating people. The Jewish community do for self, why can't we?
My understanding that Mikie-D's was the original idea of a Black man, who sold it to a Caucasian. Now what I am saying is that, black people were taken their rights away to eat properly when they came over as slaves. It is calledhow to eat to live. These people would not think of seving Halal meets, it is too costly, so the burgers will cost $5.00, and fries more. Lets get real and do for self
