Urdu Naats have long been an integral part of Muslim South Asian Culture. Generations have grown up listening to them and have found them to be a great source of learning the seerah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Naats ultimately show us the generous favour Allah bestowed upon us by allowing us to be part of His Beloved's community. Recently the genre has been popularised significantly through the efforts of great reciters such as the late Fasiudeen Soharwardi, Muhammad Owais Qadris and Yusuf Memon (to name a few), who bring their own feel and passion to the beautiful poetry that glorifies Allah and praises the beloved RasulAllah (peace be upon him).
Shah-e-Medina is an album by Hussain that showcases his approach to the naats that he grew up listening to - which remind him of pleasant days celebrating the life of the last Prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him). The melodies remain traditional but the influences of Hussain's musical environment as a youngster raised in the UK are evident, as is the distinct North African feel lent by Producer and Artist Benammi, from Morocco.
The album also features Zain Bhikha on the popular naat, 'Jashne Ahmed Rasool'.

O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the evils of my hearing, the evils of my seeing, the evils of my tongue; the evils of my heart and the evils of passions.
