7 Ways Fathers Can Plan a Ramadan to Remember; Pre-Ramadan checklist

In this newsletter

Assalamu alaikum:

While many had hoped that this Ramadan, our Masjids would be open for Ramadan worship that sadly does not look like it will happen.

Masjids that have opened around the world for daily and/or Friday prayers are mostly  operating at lower capacity, and COVID-19 restrictions will limit  Ramadan worship as well.
It’s a far cry from the bustling activity we are used to. But even as adults lament this spiritual loss, that for children is often forgotten. The memories many of us have of attending the Masjid in the blessed month will be lost for a second year in a row to our children. It is one that parents and the entire community must compensate for.

Parental and community involvement are key in ensuring that our children will remember this Ramadan in a way that evokes memories of spirituality and closeness to Allah. But it is not a one-parent job. Parenting is not only a team effort between a mother and father, but one that requires an entire community as well.

This Ramadan, all of us need to do more for our children, especially fathers and other members of the community, whether they are parents or not.

Peace,

Sound Vision Team

7 Ways Fathers Can Plan a Ramadan to Remember

One important lesson I learned from the first ‘Pandemic Ramadan’ is that fathers have a crucial role to play, as do mothers, as partners in planning for a Ramadan that is memorable for everyone, insha Allah. Your leadership as a parent both before and during Ramadan will make a positive impact.

Preparing for a Special Guest: A Pre-Ramadan Checklist
Most of our needs for the month can be organized into five areas: logistical support, household maintenance, time management, increased worship, and performing good deeds. Here is a simple checklist to help you jump start that process.

10 Ways to Bring the Masjid To Your Home This Ramadan

Believers always look for positives in every circumstance and step up to the challenge with optimism. While the doors of the Masjid for Taraweeh may be closed or restricted, the doors of Ramadan’s blessings are open 24/7, and the doors of Allah’s mercy and forgiveness are still open. Here are 10 ways you can stay connected with Allah’s House remotely this Ramadan.

The Inner Dimensions of Fasting
It should be known that there are three grades of fasting: ordinary, special and extra-special.

1. Ordinary fasting means abstaining from food, drink and sexual satisfaction.
2. Special fasting means keeping one's ears, eyes, tongue, hands and feet-and all other organs-free from sin.
3. Extra-special fasting means fasting of the heart from unworthy concerns and worldly thoughts, in total disregard of everything but Allah.
