Sample Lesson Plan: The Significance of Al-Aqsa Masjid in Islam

Duration: 60 minutes

Grades: 3-5

Objective: Students will understand the significance of Al-Aqsa Masjid in Islam, its historical and religious importance, and its connection to their beliefs.

Introduction

1.  Opening Activity:

• Ask students if they recognize the different parts of the compound and what they know about it.

• Highlight the significance of this event and its mention in the Quran (Surah Al-Isra, 17:1).

3. Discussion:

• Engage students in a discussion about why Al-Aqsa Masjid is important to Muslims. 
• Ask questions like:
  •  Why do you think Allah chose Al-Aqsa Masjid for the Prophet’s night journey?
  •   How does knowing about Al-Aqsa Masjid connect you to your faith?
