With Canadians being periodically subjected to ill-informed, ignorant, Islamophobic and downright racist rants by invited bigots to Canada who presume to lecture us on the evils of Islam, we should look instead to those with the intelligence and the moral fortitude to critically understand the message of Islam, a message whose core is about peace with justice and human equality.
In Islam it is not enough for success to believe in God and worship Him. It would be just half of the test of one’s faith. The other half test is how our relationship is with other human beings.
These principles are a part of an Islamic social structure: justice and fairness, upholding the rights of the poor in any society, as well as charity to those in need, extended to all people without any differentiation between a Muslim and a non-Muslim.
It is a time of sadness, but also one of hope. Prayer is a wonderful way to heal hearts and look towards the future. In Arabic, the term Dua refers to supplication to God. Dua is a beautiful method of connecting with the Creator.
