Hijab: An Act of Faith, a documentary by Sound Vision, successfully smashes age-old stereotypes about Muslim women and the Hijab by doing something others often fail to do: let Muslim women speak for themselves.

The discussion at the Islam Awareness Week exhibition started out nicely enough. We talked about women's rights, domestic violence, sexual abuse, heavy, heavy issues. It was interesting, she was a feminist, and I, a Muslim woman. But we connected.

As Muslims, we have rightly claimed that when it comes to women in Islam, the media has it all wrong. But Muslims compare Islamic ideals with Western reality. They do not look at the sad, sad reality of so many Muslim women today.
