A personal perspective on the 2004 detention of Yusuf Islam, the former Cat Stevens, by U.S. immigration authorities. The author is a personal friend who shares his concern for the artist, who was later released. 

I am a man of peace and denounce all forms of terrorism and injustice; it is simply outrageous for the U.S. authorities to suggest otherwise. I have dedicated my life to promoting peace and understanding throughout the world. 

The playground stands bare and empty. Wind blows across the space where little children until recently chased, skipped and played. The gates of the first government-funded Muslim school in the UK were closed last week for two reasons: respect and caution.
