Kosova

The genocide of Bosnia, with three million displaced, about 300,000 murdered and over 50,000 raped, was taken up as their own cause by Muslims in the United States.

In the heart of Europe, where only a few decades earlier, Nazis showed the world what extreme nationalism can do, genocide happened again. And once again, Europe looked away. This time, the victims were another religious minority: Muslims.

Srebrenica, Bosnia was the world's first United Nations Safe Area. In other words, it was a place where, regardless of the civil war and bloodshed occurring around the vicinity, civilians were to be protected by the UN's troops.

Everyone is asking...what can I do to help? The answer is simple...so simple in fact that most people don't take it seriously. We say to ourselves that small things can't possibly make a difference and we defeat our goal before even getting started.

The names in the above stories may be different. The circumstances may be different. But the reality is the same. Our Muslim brothers and sisters continue to suffer in Kosova. They are not just hungry. They are dying. They are being raped. They are suffering.

You may have done your part. You've prayed, sent in donations, wrote letters, and may have even welcomed and assisted incoming Kosovar refugees in your city. But the struggle in Kosova is not over.
