The recent turmoil in India's state of Karnataka over the banning of hijab or the headscarf in educational institutes, has drawn much attention to the topic of hijab and women’s rights over the past month.

For some reason, history teaches us to study about certain people, cultures and places but not all! Such is the case when it comes to Muslim scholars - unless one takes deep interest in the subject matter.
