America has always been able to liberate itself from tyranny and fear. This is the beauty of this nation and its people. American can and will do it again, but it will take a willingness on the part of all citizens, Muslim and non-Muslim, to fight the fear mongering.

Their number is not known with certainty. Perhaps they were only two or  twenty. Regardless, these women approached the man who had thus far, given them hope for this world and beyond. 

There have been more than a few cases in the recent past in which Muslims in America have killed people around them. Domestic violence against Muslim women continues.

Hassiba BelBachir, 28, had come to America to live the American dream. But she died mysteriously in the US detention before she could ever experience it. She was not serving time. She was not charged with any crime. She was put in detention to wait for an immigration hearing.

Today, there are many aspiring new Muslim filmmakers in North America. I hope at least some of them will pick up what Al-Akkad started, by pushing the bar of quality of Islamic productions higher and higher.
